Malcolm, being a long time watcher and huge fan of your - usually - coloured work, I have that the first thing which really striked at first sight was the unusual global dark tone and it DEFINITELY had a hook on me.

As usual your care for for precision and detail can be very well perceived. I like the composition for I have the feeling that the corner of the pier shows the moon's reflection on the water and I like this big time.

I was talking about detail, all is in detail and the care of it. And in that sens your capture of the sunbeams on the water is just mindblowing. I thought at first that this part of your pic was too bright to me but in fact it's not, bright and dark tones are very well balanced. I just like it and this kind of pics of yours makes me a bit more proud to watch you !

I guess this picture is a contradiction which should not work as well as the sum of its parts do.Due to the fog it has basically come out as a toned back and white. Nothing is symmetrical but despite that there is a certain balance , the sun is counterbalanced by the strong metal boat bollard on the dock. I like the clarity of this and the wooden decking which contrasts so well with the soft water and mist. You have some good reflections along the far back despite the foggy conditions and I like the evaporating mist rising off the river. A different shot and for me a successful one.

too lazy to do a crit today but I really like the obsidian looking water were it looks very dark almost black but also translucent and clear at the same time.
