It has come to the point in time when I need to move on from dA and concentrate on other websites to display my photos. These days I seem to have less and less time to devote to everything that is going on in my life.
For me, dA is no longer the same as it was when I joined way back in Feb 2008 and I no longer get the same feeling of belonging. When I first joined I met so many people and there was an enormous amount of interaction with like minded photographers. I don't see that now and a lot of the people that I first met are now gone.
Most of the people that I have met and become friends with on dA now keep in contact with me via Facebook but there are quite a few people that are not on Facebook and I will miss them greatly . Particularly and who have all been good friends and supporters over the past 6 years.
If you would like to stay in touch you can find me on Facebook www.facebook.com/MalcolmKaton or my email is fireflyphotos@optusnet.com.au
I will wait a few days before closing my account so that anyone that wants to keep in touch has the chance to get my details.
Lately I have been shooting a fair bit of live music and decided to write reviews as well. I have had a few reviews published in the Get Shot Magazine and this is the latest one to be published www.getshotmagazine.com/2013/1…
In July my wife and I packed the car and headed back out to the outback of NSW to explore our wonderful country. I have been documenting the trip via posts on my website so if you are interested in having a read and seeing a few photos then here are the links to part 1 and 2.
Back in 2010 I met a young singer at the Junior Golden Saddle Awards while I was working as one of the official photographers. The awards are for young country music artists and Ashley had made the finals. She really liked the photos that I took at the awards and we have kept in touch ever since through Facebook.
Ashley and a few of her friends have now formed a rock band and they have called themselves Imposition. I have seen them perform and for a band that only formed just over a year ago I was very impressed.
The band asked me to take some photos of them that they could use for promotional photos which I agreed to do. The resulting photos can be seen here fireflyphotos.com.au/impositio…
My mate created one for me previously (which I was very grateful for) but unfortunately it was not very user friendly and I could not update it without his help.
I decided to go with a Wordpress site that I could add blog posts as well as photos. This way I could use the website as a type of journal as well.
At this stage I am not using it for photography sales but I can add this later or simply link the photos to my Redbubble account.
If you get a chance I would be interested in any feed back that you may have
